resolutions.

pandora breckenridge doesn't make new year's resolutions. she knows they're pointless; there is no way in hell she could actually keep a resolution even if she did try to make one. she also doesn't make birthday wishes because in reality they would both be the same thing, her birthday also happens to fall on a new year every single year. she has everything she could ever possibly want: a family who loves her (in their own respective ways), a career doing what she's loved to do for as long as she can remember, and an overall sense that she has her shit together.

it's too bad that she really doesn't have her shit together. her issues are deep rooted and that story dates all the way back to... well... the very early morning she was born. she's impulsive and reckless and seemingly doesn't have a care with who she hurts in the process of truly figuring who she is and who she wants to be. if she were able to stop being so impulsive and so reckless and this somehow fucked up version of herself, she would realize that she doesn't want to be the person she is currently, not really. but she can't show that sort of thing to anyone or share how she truly feels because she's too busy trying to convince the world, and most of all herself, that she doesn't really feel anything.

so a certain pair of someones who she considers pretty important in her life (though she has the shittiest way of showing just how important those someones are to her) forget her birthday. so what? there's all of this hooplah about it being a new year which also means somehow starting fresh even though a person is ultimately still the same person they were the very day before new year's day. there's drinking and partying and sometimes being with family, so there's plenty of other things to be thinking about than it being someone else's birthday or someone forgetting her birthday. had pandora breckenridge not been pandora breckenridge then perhaps she could have been rational about the whole thing.

she is pandora breckrendige, however, and now she is actually 21 years of age. there's a party at a club where she has reserved a table for her and her friends and there's a large bottle of vodka waiting for her with her very own name etched into it, 'happy birthday' just above it for a bit of that special breckenridge flair. by the time she's halfway done with it she forgets the very name of those someones who forgot her birthday and makes a silent resolution to herself: she will never her allow herself to care if anyone else forgets her birthday again. after all, if she even admitted to caring in the first place she really wouldn't be much of herserlf now would she?
